Cornerstone Spotlight

Welcome to Cornerstone!

MEGA Kids Camp is for kids entering Kindergarten through 5th grade in the fall of 2024. It's not just any camp; it's an exciting journey where kids discover God's love in a fun atmosphere! We're thrilled to host over 550 enthusiastic campers at our 84th St. Campus each evening from June 17-20.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of MEGA Kids Camp, and we're gearing up for a spectacular celebration! From fishing in our pond to engaging in sports, crafts, or even launching rockets, there's an adventure waiting for every kid. Plus, it's an incredible opportunity for our community to see the amazing things happening at Cornerstone.

Huge thanks to our dedicated leaders and volunteers who've stepped up to make this event possible. We're in need of a few more passionate Small Group Leaders and Activity Leaders to join our team. And, if you're in 8th grade or older, you can volunteer.

We're also counting on your support and donations to make MEGA a roaring success! Whether it's rubber bands, cardboard egg cartons, or Goldfish crackers, your donations play a vital role in bringing our big plans to life. Check out our website for a full list of needed supplies and drop them off at the CornerKids Welcome Desk at any campus by Sunday, June 2.

While kid registration is closed, we'll be welcoming walk-ins on the first night of camp in June. Let's make this 20th Anniversary of MEGA Kids Camp the party of the summer!

Empowerment Through Defense: Cornerstone Women Connect Self-Defense Course

Cornerstone Women Connect recently hosted a Women's Empowerment Self-Defense Course designed to teach women of any size how to defend themselves against common chokes, grabs, bear hugs, and other attacks often used by aggressors big or small. This course was led by local business owner Ray Shonk, a certified National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM) Master Trainer and a certified Master Instructor of Tai Chi from the America Tai Chi & Qigong Association. The goal of the event was to give our women some quick skills that might make them more confident in various situations.

Cornerstone Women Connect generally meets monthly and explores a wide range of topics. You can learn more at cornerstonemi.org/Women.

Making a Difference, One Child at a Time Through Kids Hope USA

Cornerstone Church is committed to school partnerships and investing in kids in our communities. Through our partnership with Kids Hope USA, we have 40 mentors in three different schools who meet with a child for one hour, once a week during the school year, to provide encouragement and friendship. If you're interested in being a mentor or willing to pray for a mentor and their mentee next school year, please visit cornerstonemi.org/KidsHope and fill out the form to let us know!

SALT Retired+ Luncheon: The Unbreakable Spirit

The SALT Retired+ group held their May Luncheon with a powerful testimony of faith and survival featuring missionaries Herb and Linda Gregg. In 1998, during their mission in Dagestan in the tumultuous Caucasus region of Russia, Herb was abducted and held hostage for 231 days by Islamic extremists. Herb and Linda's story is not just about survival, but also a profound testimony to the limitless power of God and how faith can guide us through life’s most challenging moments. Herb described how, while in his cell, he credited daily prayer for his survival as his hostage keepers promised many times to kill him, and God seemed to thwart their announced plans daily. Linda spoke of the struggle she faced while waiting at home.

Our SALT Retired+ group is very active. Visit cornerstonemi.org/SALT for other events.
