Saying Yes to Jesus

How do I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?

You probably have a lot of questions. We hope this page will begin to answer them, plus provide a few resources to help you learn more on your own.

How Do I Have a Relationship With God?

The Bible is very clear: God loves you, and He cares about you regardless of who you are, where you’ve been, and anything you’ve ever done. He promises (more than once!) in the Bible that if you sincerely look for Him – seek Him – you'll find Him. "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13

We Can't Earn It

Because of the sin we all have, there is a huge, impassable gap between us and God. We choose to go our own way and live by our own will, disregarding God. The Bible calls this "sin" and we're all guilty of it. "...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God..." Romans 3:23

Many of us try to reconcile with Him by being a "good person" or by following religious rules to "earn" our way. But nothing we can do is enough to "fix" our separation from God. "But the trouble is that your sins have cut you off from God. Because of sin he has turned his face away from you and will not listen anymore." Isaiah 59:2

That's why God send his son, Jesus, to bridge the gap. "But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners." Romans 5:8

The Only Way Is Through Jesus

Jesus was fully God, and fully human, but He had no sin. Jesus willingly sacrificed his life to pay the price of death that sin demanded; no one else ever could. Three days later, he rose from the dead, crushing death itself, and making the only way for us to get to God.

"Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God." 1 Peter 3:18

"I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." John 14:6

We All Have a Choice

Forgiveness of our sins is a gift from God, when we accept Jesus as the One who saved us. We can't earn it, and we don't deserve it – it's simply a gift! But we have to accept that gift – and this is how: "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved." Romans 10:9-10

Ask Jesus Into Your Life

If you want to begin a relationship with God through Jesus Christ right now, you can, by talking to Him through prayer. Say this prayer out loud:
"God, I confess that I'm a sinner. I believe Jesus died to pay the price for my sins, and then rose from the dead for me, so that when this body dies, my spirit has life forever with God! I ask you into my life. I accept your gift. I'm turning away from my way of doing things, to your way; and I give you control of my life. Thank you for saving me, and giving me new life in you! Amen."
